Mountain Men | Part 9

Jesus and The Mountain of Kingdom Living
Climb the Mountain. Listen to the words of Jesus. Follow Him.

GROUP READING: Matthew 5:1-12

GROUP DISCUSSION:

1. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus sets the standard for a better, deeper way of living. What stands out the most to you as you read through the words of Jesus found in Matthew 5:1-12?

2. Many people who came to hear what Jesus had to say were hoping he would help overthrow the government by way of force. This is not what Jesus does. What is the core of what Jesus was telling these people?

3. The way that Jesus chose to live turns what we see in the world upside down. We live in a culture that praises those who try to get to the top and use whatever means necessary. Have you actually put into place what Jesus says here? What benefit is there to living the Jesus way and not the way our culture tells us to live?

GROUP PRAYER:
Pray that we would be men who see that peace is better than war, and that in being peacemakers, we are called sons of God. Pray that we would be men who see that gentleness is a sign of strength. Pray that we would be men that see that the way of Jesus is better than any other way. May our first action as men be to look to Jesus. May we be men who see that life will be hard, but learn to fight for what is right. May we be men who mourn with those who mourn and laugh with those who find joy. May we be men who are so aware that we have a Savior who is WITH US. May we be men who ask for more and more of the Holy Spirit of Jesus. Amen and a thousand more amens.
