Mountain Men | Part 8

David and The Mountain of Rescue
When life throws assaults your way, we are called to escape. When you respond to God, He provides the cave.

GROUP READING: 1 Samuel 22, Isaiah 43

GROUP DISCUSSION:

1. Life will throw us more assaults than we can count. I think we can all agree on this. Like David and Jesus, do you know of the place you can escape to where you know you can hear from God?

2. I know most of us like to think sometimes we are strong enough to handle anything thrown our way. If it hasn’t been obvious by now, it will become obvious at some point that we aren’t. Do you trust God to provide shelter, peace, clarity and then strength to counterattack the assaults made towards you?

3. Just as David and his men went into the cave broken, battered, bruised, depressed (get the picture?) and emerged different than when they entered, do you believe that the Spirit of God will change you as he did for them?

GROUP PRAYER:
Pray that we become men who aren’t scared to run all the way away. David and his men still wanted to fight, but they needed guidance. Pray that we become men who find the rhythm of the cave as David and his men did. Pray that we become men who find the rhythm of prayer that even Jesus had. May we become men whose first reaction is to escape to the cave KNOWING that we will hear from God. Even when we don’t feel like we hear him, may we build up the strength and courage to walk knowing that he does hear us. Life is messy and hard, but we have a savior in Christ that promised he would be there with us in the midst of suffering. Amen and a thousand more amens.
